Sat 21 June @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Three amazing chefs, three passionate farmers, and a unique opportunity to share stories through honest, local food. This experience is for foodies who crave more than just what’s on the plate. Grounded, authentic, and utterly delicious, it’s a feast for the senses, set on a sixth-generation family farm.

Smoke & Mirrors: A Deep Dive into the Flavours and Future of Local Food and Farming

IN 1970 there were 190,000 Australian farms. Today? Just over 80,000. Less than 10% of Aussies personally know a farmer – and this country was built on the sheep’s back and golden soil.

Local abattoirs have declined by more than 60% in the past 30 years.

How does this change the way we shop, eat and live?

It’s time to blow away the smoke and smash the mirrors — to have the meaty, messy, meaningful conversation about the future of food, farming and the truth behind the eating local.

Smoke & Mirrors is your invitation to take a seat at the firepit and join farmers, producers, chefs, restaurateurs and food lovers for a bold, raw and real conversation.

This isn’t a glossy panel with buzzwords and bite-sized soundbites.

It’s an open exploration of the things we need to talk about: food fraud, broken supply chains, the vanishing abattoirs, the ageing farmer population, and the chefs and small businesses who are going against the grain to support local growers.

We’ll ask what consumers really want — and what they’re willing to pay.

We’ll talk seasonal challenges, on-farm realities – what it takes to keep a family on the land and a community fed.

We’ll cover the farmer’s love of land and stock – the chef’s love of flavours and produce, and how it comes together.

Bring your questions.

Bring your curiosity.

Bring your appetite for change.

As guests stroll through the farm, the food miles may be small, but the conversations are vast. The afternoon will unfold at The Barn, where chefs Jake Nicolson, Kyle McNamara, and Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Daniel Groneberg will prepare amazing dishes using fresh produce from right here on the farm and locally sourced produce – honest and authentic food, just like the conversation.

This foodie farm adventure is one not to be missed.
