Tommerup’s Dairy Farm offers an authentic learning experience for your students as part of a school group tour on our 6th generation family farm. We take pride in providing tailored curriculum-linked experiences that enhance your classroom units with our diverse outdoor classroom environment.

Our program facilitates genuine Q&A and natural inquiry processes, assisting with the development of critical and creative thinking as your students gain firsthand knowledge from real farmers and their lived experience.

Tommerup’s farm excursions provide immersive learning experiences well beyond just the paddock to plate and agricultural units you might expect from a working farm. With over 150 years of history on this family property, we’re perfectly placed to provide hands-on learning around historical artefacts, how technology and communities have changed or stayed the same, and the important role history plays in our future.

Your school group visit can be as simple as immersing your students into a real working farm environment where they’ll see our cows being milked, explore sustainable production of vegetables, grain, dairy, eggs and meat, and get up close to our menagerie of farm animals, right through to the full farm to fork supply chain or business case study for secondary subjects.

Our farm is a multi-faceted, vertically integrated business developing and supplying into niche markets, and provides real-life examples of the full supply chain from farm to fork. The farm is a learning environment where students can see the processes of growing, harvesting, and rearing,  to the processing and packaging stages, right through to marketing, sales and distribution at the farm shop and beyond.  

The farmers are your guides – Dave, Kay and Harry have a passion for educating young people about sustainable farming practices and how food is produced, the importance of agriculture in today’s society, our collective role in ensuring food security, animal welfare, as well as the value of individual agency in creating positive change for our environmental future.
